This has got to be one of the most unique weddings I have ever had the privilege of doing. Anna and Michael were married and had their reception at Whitehall House & Gardens. The weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding and reception! During the planning process Anna was fantastic and has to be one of the most relaxed and composed brides we have worked with.
We started the day with the ceremony in the garden which we ran a wireless system for sound. The wedding was the start to an amazing affair. Music from a string trio greeted guests as they entered. As it was a bit warm out this Sunday afternoon the ushers not only seated guests but also made sure that guests had something to drink. A soloist accompanied the lovely ceremony for a great touch. The guests were excused from the wedding to a cocktail hour in front of the house.
After photos, guests were welcomed into the tent for the reception. We assembled the bridal party for their introductions. In another first for us, we did not play the first dance. The matron of honor played their first dance on the violin. It was the perfect for the occasion. The dinner set that we played was unlike any other we have ever played with selection of music from the 1930′s to accompany fantastic food from Mirabelle Gourmet Catering. This was a very relaxed, unrushed reception despite the elegance of the affair.
As dinner was winding down we moved into the toasts and cake cutting. The wedding cake was beautifully done and was a great centerpiece for the reception. The groom’s cake was a Tennessee Vols themed cake with orange filling. Fitting for Michael, a huge Vols fan! Now it was time for dancing. But wait, a surprise was in store for all! The bride had a secret she had hidden for everyone! She was about to perform a special song for the groom. Very impressive! We got into the dancing portion of the evening with a very eclectic selection that complimented the rest of the day perfectly! On a side note… thank you to Don, the father of the bride, who introduced me to “Derek and the Dominos”. I love learning about artists new to me!
Bride’s Tip: Special touches like providing refreshments during an outdoor ceremony or reception not only help keep your guests cool but also make an unforgettable impression!
Most Memorable Moment: First dance- Hands down for me the most memorable moment was during the first dance. Having the matron of honor play the first dance live was a classy touch!
Michael & Anna- What an amazing day! Thank you for letting us share it with you!
